The Matto Reid Ensemble presents:
The Songs of Porter and Gershwin" - a show celebrating the works of two of the most prolific and well loved composers of The Great American Song Book, featuring arrangements of some of their greatest compositions, as well as their lesser known gems, and performed by some of Atlantic Canada's finest jazz musicians.

The Matto Reid Ensemble is a collaboration between ECMA nominated jazz vocalist Daniel Matto and saxophonist Brad Reid. Together with some of Atlantic Canada's finest jazz musicians, this recently formed Ensemble has performed for Music Nova Scotia, Casino Nova Scotia and corporate events.

Vocalist Daniel Matto showcases a unique style of jazz - a skillfully mixed cocktail that blends jazz standards, fresh twists on rock classics and original compositions. Audiences respond well to his selections of great songs and to the ‘less is more’ treatment to phrasing and melody. His debut album, I’m Old Fashioned, was nominated for Jazz Recording of the Year in the 2010 Music Nova Scotia Awards and the 2011 East Coast Music Awards. Daniel's latest album, Groovin' with The DMQ, was released in Spring 2013, and was also nominated for Jazz Recording of the Year in the 2013 Music Nova Scotia Awards and 2014 East Coast Music Awards.

Brad Reid is a saxophonist and woodwind doubler, based in Halifax, NS, whose collaboration with jazz vocalist Daniel Matto began in 2013 with a Tribute to the Rat Pack. He now lends his horn and arranging chops to this band. Other recent work includes the Myles Goodwyn Band; many shows in the pit orchestra at Neptune Theatre since 2012; and performing and touring with the Brogue Saxophone Quartet, of which he is a founding member.
