Kitty and the Katz (The artists formerly known as Jack’s Cats, sans Jack)
During its brief but action packed run, Jacks Cats quickly became a very popular swing dance music group in Halifax. We were nominated for a Music Nova Scotia Award, performed at the Halifax Jazz Festival, recorded a live album at the Music Room, won Bronze in The Coast's “Best of Jazz Group" category, were interviewed by The Chronicle Herald's Stephen Cooke and CBC TV's Colleen Jones, and performed gigs around Halifax from 2012- 2014. And we had a blast doing it!

When Jack decided to return to his roots in California, the Cats quickly concluded that we enjoy playing together so much that we have to keep on swingin’ - so we regrouped as Kitty and the Katz and the musical camaraderie continues.

Over the past year we recorded a Kitty and the Katz Live Audio Concert, and a Live Off the Floor Video Concert featuring our original tune Where’s That Cat? as well as our favourite classic Jazz songs; have performed for the Dalhousie Swing Society’s AGM, in venues in Halifax, Mahone Bay, and Prospect and for private functions.

The group is fronted by Joyfully Versatile Vocalist Kitty Farmer and features dynamic bandleader and pianist, Gordon Fader – a well known musician in Halifax who has backed up many artists from Anne Murray to BB King; Dave Skinner – a Halifax favourite, on drums & vocals; Dylan Quinn – a graduate of the St. FX jazz program, on guitar and vocals; Charlie Doucet - TV producer and long time regular in the Halifax band circuit on bass; and super-talented George Ewanick on saxophone.
