Ally Fiola is a Halifax-based saxophonist, composer, and arranger. Ally has been profoundly influenced by the sounds of Cannonball Adderley, David Sanborn, Hank Mobley, and Gerry Mulligan, as well as by the composition styles of Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, Pat Metheny, and Kenny Wheeler.

Ally went to Dalhousie University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music performance in saxophone as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She studied the saxophone and jazz arrangement under the direction of saxophonist and educator, Chris Mitchell. In addition to the saxophone, Ally plays flute, clarinet, and sings. She composes and arranges personal projects for groups around Halifax, and has been commissioned locally for her compositions. Ally continues to perform diverse genres as a sideman spanning from jazz, funk, and experimental music, as well as with her own group, The Next Quest.

The Next Quest is a jazz septet that was formed by Ally in 2015. This group is a unique configuration of talented Haligonian musicians, which includes two saxes, trumpet, trombone, sousaphone, guitar, and drums. The Next Quest performs original music, as well as jazz arrangements of pop tunes, and has a heavy focus on the improvisation skills of each member.
